Ich gehe nach Deutschland!

Hallo blog world, get ready for a year of jokes about beer and sausages (bier und wurst!).

I've been going through my past entries to stir inspiration for a class writing assignment on a personal journey, and it's caused me to have an intense desire to start my blobbing again. I wanted to announce to my readers (wherever, whoever you are) that Helen of Troy will be spending next year in Germany!

I'm participating in the CBYX fellowship program, and I'll be doing some intense language studying, attending a German university, and finally holding an internship somewhere within the German borders. Ich bin begeistert! (My apologies to the non-German speakers out there. You'll be learning some German by reading this blog, too!)

For now I must focus on said writing assignment and getting my act together to graduate, but I'm looking forward to sharing what will likely be some pretty hilarious experiences with all of you. Everything in a German accent is just funny.

I've been so fortunate in the past few years to have some amazing experiences around the world. I've learned and loved so much, and  I'm thankful to have another journey to partake in.  I plan to make the most of it. Until I scribe again, a final thought:

"Maybe this is what we get in life, a few great loves: loves that return us to ourselves when we need it most. And maybe some of those loves aren’t people, but places — real and adopted homes — that fill us up with light and energy and hope at moments when we feel especially tired or lost. That is the beauty of love in all its forms. We don’t know when or how it is going to save us."
