Buffet-Style Luncheon Served
I feel a little silly, but I know I'd eat this up if I were reading!
OK, enough puns and enough about food - I won't talk too much more about my gastronomical adventures. On a non-foodie note, tonight I took an evening stroll to the National Mall and had some nice face time with Honest Abe. Dusk here is lovely right now; it's delightfully warm and just humid enough. My research assistant reminded me today that it's a farce, but for now I stroll.
HELEN! This menu sounds so so good! And I know EXACTLY where you're living - I lived in GW dorms too, on I street right across from Foggy Bottom metro :)
ReplyDeletethere is a trader joe's in georgetown around 23rd and m (maybe, that sounds about right) for groceries, though I'm sure you've found it. While you're under 21, Georgetown is still nice to be in because the streets are full of shops, bookstores, and a movie theater for entertainment, and its pretty close by - just beyond GW hospital about 6 blocks. Once you're 21, I would totally hit up McFaddens, which is right near GW and had a great nightlife. Old Ebbits Bar and Grill was super DCish (you'll know if you go), but it was pricey and the only reason I went was because some parents took us out. It would be very cool for a birthday though. Also, I recommend the Capitol Steps comedy show - its like political SNL, with skits and songs with lyrics written about political events. My favorite one was "how do you solve a problem like Korea?" sung to the Sound of Music song of a similar name that I'm sure you're familiar with :) Also, from one non-museum person to another, you might actually like the Smithsonian Natural History one and the American history one, because they are very showy and in the Am Hist one, very pop culture based and more entertaining. I also went to the spy museum, but wished there were more ninja displays. I would only go if you found a deal on the entry fee, as it was like $20 and just okay.
OKAY that's my list for now - please let me know if you need any travel advice or visitation suggestions - I love love love dc!
